Hello everyone!                                                                                    September 15, 2014

This week has been pretty good nothing too out of the ordinary.

Monday was FHE and we went to the Owens. Dinner was a little late so we played around and helped Shaylyn and Tristan with their homework. We didn't move the piano the rest of the way up the stairs because he
wants to re enforce a couple of the steps first. On

Tuesday we volunteered at the trading post (it's a Christian service, food pantry type thing) moving cans and stuff around. Then we went over and taught Chuck another lesson. We are trying to get him to come to church but his store is open on Sunday so it's kind of hard for him to come.

Wednesday we went and helped at the trading post again because they had a free lunch where there were lots of people to talk to so we got three more potential investigators that day. Then we went and mowed sister Lux lawn and it was super long from all of the rain. Then we went and taught Brenda Costa another new member lesson.

Thursday was pretty uneventful. We had district meeting and game night and the usual stuff.

Friday we went and helped Roy finish his terraced planter things, filling them with dirt then we played football on his huge yard back in the woods for a little bit then we made some concrete pads along side some of his buildings. Then we had dinner with the Terintinos at Ponderosa Steak House and that was pretty good when I ate it, but when I got home I must have had food poisoning or something because my stomach didn't like it so I just threw it up and I felt much better. Sorry if that was kind of gross! Then we went tot Sister Gates funeral memorial service at the stake center. We rode with the Becker’s to save on miles. Brother Becker is the funniest man I have ever met! He is super sarcastic and jokes around a lot. After the memorial we had to stop at Wal-Mart and pick up some groceries for him while his wife is going on vacation. He is vegan but he still eats some things like normal ice cream because it tastes good, and fish. So, not a very strict vegan. He also bought a ton of candy because he likes to always carry it around and hand it out. He bought 15 pounds of it! So because of shopping we got home kind of late.

Saturday we went and helped Brenda Costa move from Springville to Yorkshire. Then after that we went and helped the Hackets split wood and build a chicken coop. Their little boy was trying to stick the shovel between our legs and jump on it so we had to be on the look out for him trying to sneak up behind us! Sunday we went to church, and after words we had a potluck and a old senior couple came back to visit from Layton. Then we went and visited a less active for the first time. Nobody knows who he is and he is a big guy who lives not to far away from us so we went to go see him. He was prepared for us and had his whole life story printed out and in a folder for us. He was discharged from the army a couple of years ago and had tons of things about his life to tell us. Then we went and saw a member who lives up by Kissing Bridge Ski Resort, actually right across the street, and we are going back and having dinner with his non-member friends next week. That's pretty much my week.

Mom, to answer some of your questions, it's getting cooler here, the past few days haven't got above about 58. My apartment is pretty good. It is equipped for four elders, so we have extra beds. We put the other two in our room so we have bigger beds now. We should get our old truck back in a little bit after they are done fixing it. We took it to the shop about a block away so I think we'll go check. The Nissans are a lot nicer than the Colorado’s.

Hello dad,

How's it been going? We moved a lady this week and all of her stuff was covered in tons of cat hair!! It was disgusting!!!! Our mission is getting rid of all of the Colorado’s next month and getting all new Nissan Frontiers! The church must have a ton of money to buy 40 brand new trucks! And that's just in one mission. Gladys Knight is coming to our mission to sing and to give a devotional with her choir so hopefully I can go to that but it's all the way in Rochester. She's a very active member in the church if you didn't know. You should watch the amazing spider man 2 with Avery. It was all filmed in Rochester so all of the buildings and stuff are from here not New York City where the story takes palace so that's kind of cool. You'll get to see a little but of my mission if you do. That's pretty much it just a few little things.

Sorry one more thing. The Bills are 2-0 so everyone is excited about that and it is all everyone talks about.

August 7th, 2014 Letter from the MTC

The MTC has been great! Well, today is our p day and we got to go to the temple this morning and that was great! I love it here at the MTC and I don't mean to be rude or anything but I don't miss home one bit.  I love all of the people in my district and zone and we get along so good.  It is like we have been best friends for years.  I thought that the MTC would be boring and long but it’s not too bad. There is lots of food and we've made the mistake of eating too much a couple of times so that wasn't too fun but other than that it was good.  The love for each other here is awesome! Our branch president and all of the people in our zone give hugs to each other instead of handshakes.  The first time we met our branch presidency they came right over and gave us all big hugs.  We've had a couple awesome devotionals on Sunday and Tuesday. I haven't got the chance to play basketball yet but hopefully I will be able to play in a couple minutes.  We have been playing lots of soccer and there are some elders that play with us that are from Fuji and Africa and they kick our butts!! I did score one goal on them so that was pretty good I guess.  There are couple elders in our district that are pretty good at soccer and two were on the basketball teams at their high schools. One thing that I have notices is how small I am! (that is part of the reason I haven't played basketball yet) I have met two people from the BYU basketball team here.  I am the smallest and shortest person in my district and zone! I'd be the smallest in the whole MTC but there are some people from the Philippians and Asia who are a little smaller.  The MTC is huge and I'm just getting the hang of it and I’ll be leaving in a couple of days. We leave Monday morning at 3:30 a.m.! Why do we have to leave that early? We go from here to Detroit, then to Rochester and get there at about 5 in the afternoon.  I have been assigned as the travel leader, whatever that means? I’m sure I'll figure it out; I just hope I don’t mess something up.  I have seen lots of people I know like Porter Roe, Josh Dunkley, CJ Bowers, Tyrell Fredrickson, Erin Cox, Stephen Odd, etc. There are so many people here but its not crowded at all.  It is just 8 of us in our district and we spend most of our time together. I have learned a lot and taught a lot. I'm running out of things to say so I’m going to stop for now.

Sorry I forgot to tell you earlier. I forgot my water bottle, my patriarchal blessing, my priesthood line of authority, and probably something else. If you could send those to me in New York in a couple of weeks that would be great. Also, Monday morning I can call you if I want at the airport, but I have to buy a calling card and I don’t know what time it will be.  So, I might call some time between 3 and 6 in the morning.

Sorry I forgot again! I don’t have a way to upload pictures so that’s why you don’t have any. So you need to send me the cord in NY too.

July 31st, 2014 Letter from the MTC

Hi family

The MTC is great! I love it!  It was really fast and confusing for the first few hours, rushing me around places, picking up stuff but that was to be expected.  The MTC is a pretty big place and its still a little confusing to me.  Only half the missionary's are on this campus and the others are on another one somewhere.  There are no spanish speaking missionary's on our campus they are all on the other campus.  I've seen my friends Porter Roe and Braden Keller already so thats pretty cool.  You'll never guess who my companion is?! Its Elder Houghton! What are the chances? The only person that I would know coming in here is my companion!  The classes and meetings have been really cool and the spirit is so strong here!  There are eight of us going to the Rochester mission and we are all together at all of the classes, meetings, lunch, etc... so we are becoming really close! We've already had the opportunity to teach someone who is not a member named Chico! He is a big Italian guy and it was really cool to see how happy he got when he learned more about the gospel and what it brings.  He was worried about his baby having Adams original sin since he died before he was baptized. He was taught that his son is clean and is living with his heavenly father and that brought so much happiness to his life.  He said his heart felt like "melted butter" and me likes melted butter.

Sorry I dont have much time to write but I'll talk to you next week!

MTC Drop off! ~ New York Bound!

We drove down to Provo with the goal of sending our oldest son on his mission. We stopped for lunch, then a stop at the Provo Temple Grounds to take some pictures. It set my mind at ease watching all the many others doing the same thing. Time went by quickly and we knew we had to say our goodbyes. Many hugs were shared, many tears were shed and it then it happened, he was led away from us as I watched his back fade away in the distance. He is not only my son, but my friend and I will miss him dearly. I know he will be okay. I know that I will be okay, but it will take some time for the lump in my throat to settle and the tears to dry up. God Bless you until we meet again Addison. See ya in two!!! Love you forever!

 See ya in two!!

Ada and Addison are very close. His sister is sure going to miss him.

The tears were plenty.  We are going to miss our Addison.
Avery is only a couple of inches shorter than Addison, but I bet he will have grown a few inches at least before Addison returns.  Then, he will be his big-little brother.
I couldn't hold him tight enough or long enough. I didn't want it to stop. He hugged me like he never had before. I love this boy!
