July 27th, 2015

Hey guys!

This week was good as usual. We did quite a bit of tracting, we had a district meeting, and all of the usual. I went on exchanges with Elder Coffey in Spencerport and we did a bunch of service and contacted a referral that we got from President Francis. He met this guy at the airport when he was dropping off he missionaries to go home and he got his info and we went and contacted him and he is going to see them again.

We had a lesson with Joseph and he had been keeping the word of
wisdom for a couple of days and then he faltered because he lives with a member and she is inactive and she smokes so it's kinda hard for him to keep his commitment. I did a baptismal interview for a guy in Spencerport and he is ready to be baptized so that's awesome! We are kinda running low in people to teach so we are in desperate need to find some more people to teach. Other than that nothing too exciting.

I love you guys and hope everything is going good!

July 20, 2015

Hey guys, there really wasn't much too exciting this week. We did a ton of tracting this week and handed out a ton of advertising for pageant.

I got to go to pageant this Saturday with Lee and Mary Jane.  It was awesome! I really like it and you guys are going to have to come and see it next year. We are continuing to hand out the Book of Mormon. There really wasn't anything too exciting besides that because nobody got transferred in our district.

I have been reading the Book of Mormon for my fourth time on the mission and I am marking every time it mentions Jesus, anytime he speaks and Christlike attributes so I'll send it home soon.

Sorry for the short letter.

Love, Elder Daugs

Hill Cumorah Pageant

Hey guys!

This week we have done quite a bit of community service, which is good because then we get to talk with a bunch of people and to get to know the people from the other churches. So helped at the food pantry giving out food donations. We helped at the book sale at the Episcopal Church. We also helped at a dinner serving food at the Episcopal Church.

We had all of the usual things during the week. Walking around a lot trying to tell people about the pageant and trying to give out some Book of Mormon. We had a good lesson with Joseph and Brother Warren came with is to the lesson. We taught about the word of wisdom and he wants to change and quit smoking himself even before we gave the lesson so hopefully he will be able to do it.

We also finally got in with this one family and they want to meet again and they want to go to pageant but they don't have a car so we will have to try and figure out a way to get them there. Joseph also wants to go but he doesn't have a car either. The best part of the week was going to pageant! It was an awesome show and lots of fun. It's surprising all of the people you meet there. I met lots of people from Utah, California, Arizona, etc... And I ran into Elder Wick of the Seventy and got to talk with him for a little bit. He gave a conference talk a couple of years ago. It was a big endeavor though to go to pageant. It starts at nine so you have to leave to get there and get a seat by 6:30 then you don't get home until after midnight. So it makes for a long day. I hope to go a couple more times with investigators if we can figure out all of the rides situation.

Transfer calls were this morning and I'm staying the same so I'll be in Brockport for at least 6 months.

Have a great week!
Love ya!

Now that's a slice of pizza!

Happy Fourth of July

Hey guys!

This week wasn't very eventful. It was actually kinda slow compared to the other weeks. We have done a bunch of walking around and trying to visit lots of people. But most of them weren't home and that's probably because of the holiday. Hubert the guy we have been teaching in the prison finally got out and now he is in New York City and we have been trying to get the bishop and the missionaries there to get in contact with him and help him. He problem is he doesn't have very much stuff right now since he just got out. But we have been able to call him once.

We had dinner with some members on Friday and their son just got back from his mission and we were talking and he was the zone leader for Denton Grange in Reynosa Mexico. It's a small world when you are a Mormon! We also had dinner with one sister in our ward and her husband isn't a member and he is the head guy that is in charge of the Erie Canal. All the way from Buffalo to the other side of New York. He is really cool and likes us but he has no interest at all in coming to church, which is too bad.

We were able to hand out 7 more Book of Mormons this week and we are preparing to take some investigators to pageant this weekend and the next so hopefully everything works out so we can.

We went to some member’s house that lives on the lake up above Hilton for the Fourth of July. We just dipped our feet in the water since we aren't allowed to swim. It was pretty nice and got to spend time with all of the members. There were also some fireworks right across from our apartments at night so we got to see those. But little fireworks that you do on your own are illegal in Monroe county.

We also did the usual stuff like he senior center, and the clothing shelf and our meetings. Church was awesome yesterday too! We had the combined third hour like I'm sure you did and it was really good discussion. We ended up going about 15 over with church. Also one of the cool things I got to do this week was go up into the tower of the lift bridge on Park Ave. and they showed us how the bridge worked then a boat came so we got to see it in operation.

Hope you have a great week!
